3.1: Cation Exchange Resin Cartridges
Water softener cartridges are typically used to reduce Calcium and Magnesium hardness, along with other metals, by process of ion exchange. After filter life, these cartridges could be regenerated and reused again.

3.2: Mixed Bed (DI) Resin Cartridges
DI resin cartridges. A mixture of strong acid cation resin (Hydrogen form), and Strong Base Anion Resin (Hydroxide form). 50% Cation and 50% Anion, with a volumetric ratio of 1:1. Typically used to reduce TDS down to zero.

3.3: Slow Dissolve Polyphosphate Cartridges
Polyphosphate media helps prevent lime and scale deposits from water and is effective for treating corrosion and iron problems. The slow dissolving beads dissolve at a controlled concentration to inhibit scale formation and corrosion. A concentration level of 0.5 ppm to 5.0 ppm polyphosphate is typical for scale and corrosion treatment.

3.4: Calcite & Corosex Cartridges
Calcite media (Calcium Carbonate aka crushed white marble) slowly dissolves in acidic water as it passes through the media. This increases the pH and Alkalinity of the water; which helps prevent corrosion of pipes and fixtures.
Corosex media (Magnesium Oxide) dissolves in acidic water as it passes through the media. This increases the pH and Alkalinity of water; which helps prevent corrosion of pipes and fixtures.
To cover a wider range of acidic water, and to cater to varying flow rates, it is recommended to mix Calcite media and Corosex media.

3.5: KDF-55 and KDF-85 Cartridges
KDF-55 Media is typically used to reduce chlorine and heavy metals from water supply by the Reduction Oxidation process (Redox). KDF-55 media prevents bacteria and algae growth, and controls scale; and maybe used with carbon media prolonging carbon media’s life.

3.8: Crystal Flow Media Cartridges
Crystal Flow® is a new scale-prevention technology, it utilizes the media’s special atomic structure as a template, with nucleation sites on the surface, to achieve Molecular Nanotechnology Transformation (MNT); basically transforming dissolved hardness to microscopic crystals. These crystals are then released preventing hardness from forming (scale buildup).
